All proceeds from Jersey Tee sales go toward the nonprofit organization, Innovations Family Wellness INC. Our mission is to strengthen local communities by ushering in a generation of healthy families regardless of their socioeconomic status. “Black women’s risk of maternal mortality has remained higher than white women’s risk for the past six decades” (CSC Tulsa). Black infant mortality rates in Tulsa are also significantly higher than white babies. “The infant mortality rate (IMR), often used as an indicator of overall health, represents the number of deaths of infants under one year of age per 1,000 live births in the same year. In Tulsa County, the Black IMR is around four times higher than the White IMR. Even when healthcare or socioeconomic factors are accounted for and found to be equal, the Black infant mortality rate (IMR) is still found to be substantially higher than that of other races” (Tulsa Equality Indicators). Together we can help end disparities not only in Black women but in all of us, with quality education, economic stability, therapeutic support, and expert culturally significant care. Birth is a blessing for all women, no matter their race or socioeconomic status.
